Frequently Asked Questions
How Young Can You Start?
We work with students as young as 3-years-old. For kids ages 3-5, we recommend a more general approach to music, incorporating some singing, some piano, and some fun music theory games or workbooks, although some younger students do perfectly well focusing for a half hour on singing or an instrument.
Do You Teach Adults?
Yes! We love working with adults and offer a number of programs geared toward more mature students, including our Teen-Adult Showcases.
Where Do Lessons Take Place?
We have studio locations in Costa Mesa, Orange, and Irvine, along with the option of in-home or online lessons.
How Much is Tuition?
We have a variety of membership options, starting at free. Our online lesson services start as low as $29/95/month, and private in-person lessons (our Concierge service) starts as low as $99/month. Check out our Membership Pricing page, or give us a call at 800-581-4609, for more info.
What Style of Music do you Teach
You name it! We tailor our music lessons to individual interest. That means if you’re passionate about pop singing, we’ll focus on commercial music. If you’ve always dreamed of going to Julliard and gracing the opera and symphony stages, we’ll give you a great classical education. If you’re Broadway-bound, we’ll teach you musical theatre. We don’t favor one style over another but rest assured, whatever you work on will be done with an emphasis on health, technique, and musicianship.
What's a Pocket Lesson?
A pocket lesson leverages technology that’s been around for over twenty years to connect you to your teacher. Using a phone, or a webcam, or a tablet, or, really, whatever, you film yourself singing or playing any song you like, in any style you like, and then you share that video with your teacher. Your teacher will send back a picture-in-picture video with personalized feedback and tips for improvement.
What Instruments do You Teach?
Voice lessons are our specialty, but we also offer high-quality instruction in piano, guitar, and ukulele.
What Curriculum do you Use for Lessons?
We don’t use a set curriculum, because our music lessons are all tailored to the interests and abilities of the individual student. At the first lesson, we discuss goals, assess where our students are at, and develop a customized program accordingly.
Do You Take Homeschool Charter Funds?
Yes! We’re currently set up to take funds for Excel, Sky Mountain, Sage Oak, and… If we aren’t with your particular school yet, just ask, and we’ll get set up!
What Style of Music Should I Start With?
The right style of music to start with is the one you most want to learn! There’s a common myth that classical music provides the best foundation. We’re huge fans of classical music and love teaching it, but it’s only the best music to start with if your goal is to get good at singing or playing classical music. If you love pop singing, we can teach you great, healthy vocal technique singing the music you love.
Do You Offer Performance Opportunities?
Yes! We offer at least 6 recitals or showcases per year throughout Orange County. In 2023, we’ll begin offering online performance opportunities as well.
